Claims Process

It is important to show your client the Claims Contact information on their policy and related documentation, to ensure they know who to call to make a claim.

Private Motor Vehicle, Pleasurecraft and House & Contents

  • A claims representative will take down all the details and assess the claim
  • Claims less than $500 can usually be settled over the phone
  • If the claim is over $500, your customer will need to complete a claim form and supply documentation. An assessor may be appointed depending on circumstances
  • If repairs are required, our claims team will strongly recommend that you direct your client to use the new Lumley Approved Quality Repairer Network. The network is for all private motor vehicle claims, and offers the opportunity to utilise the expertise and skills of a select group of quality collision repairers. Find a local repairer

Claim forms can either be sent via email or mailed. Alternatively, the customer will be advised how to download a claim form when they call.

Mechanical Breakdown

  • Our claims team will strongly recommend your client to take their vehicle to an authorised repairer approved by the New Zealand Automobile Association Inc, The Motor Trade Association Inc, or a nationally recognised mechanical or electrical vehicle repair organisation
  • The service manager of the repairer will contact us to get authorisation to proceed with the work required
  • Our Mechanical Breakdown claims assessors are all ex-Service Managers and/or "A-Grade" mechanics. So when an approved repairer phones for authorisation, issues can usually be resolved immediately.

Loan Repayment

  • If your client needs to make a loan repayment, they should contact the Claims team and request a claim form
  • The various claim forms (Redundancy/Bankruptcy/Illness/Accident/Death) can be downloaded here or emailed or posted out by our claims team
  • When we receive the completed claim form, it will be reviewed by the experienced claims team and the client advised in writing of the outcome
